#ingredients
- 170 g (less than 1 cup) granulated sugar
- 125 g butter (equivalent to 100 ml melted)
- 1 egg
- 210 g (2 cups) flour
- 1 level tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. molasses or 1 tbsp. extract
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. baking soda
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 120 g finely chopped chocolate
#instructions
- melt the butter and pour it into your mixing bowl
- add the sugar to the melted butter and mix by hand for 1–2 minutes until combined
- add the egg and continue mixing for another 1–2 minutes
- stir in the molasses, baking soda, and salt
- once well combined, add the flour, cornstarch and vanilla sugar. mix until a dough forms
- fold in the chopped chocolate
- chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes
- pre-heat your oven to 170°C (340°F) (upper-lower heat mode)
- Roll pieces of dough (slightly larger than a walnut) and place them on a baking tray
- bake for 13–14 minutes. The edges should look baked, but the center should still be soft and sink slightly when pressed
- let them cool on the tray before serving so they can set
